GALLERY THEATRE SPONSORS CANNED FOOD DRIVE AND PRODUCES OUR TOWN
The Gallery Theatre, Inc. in Ahoskie, North Carolina, will close its 53rd season with a production of Thornton Wilder’s Our Town. This drama is sponsored by Golden Skillet.
Our Town presents life in Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire, a small town that could represent “Anytown, USA.” The play focuses on the lives and loves of next-door neighbors Emily Webb (Colleen Curley) and George Gibbs (Bradley Peacock) and their families, as the play dramatizes their actions and interactions. Although set in the early 20th century, Our Town echoes emotions from today.
The show is directed by Hugh H. Davis and features a diverse, multigenerational cast from throughout the Roanoke-Chowan area. The cast includes community members from Hertford, Bertie, Gates, and Northampton Counties, including students from several area schools, including Bertie and Hertford Early College, HCHS, Riverview, and Ridgecroft, ranging from from Bearfield Primary to RCCC. The Gallery stage will be graced by veterans and newcomers from throughout the area.
The cast and crew want Our Town to give back to “their town,” and so the Gallery Theatre is sponsoring a canned food drive. All food and donations collected through the conclusion of this show will be given to the Ahoskie Food Pantry.
The performance dates are May 3, 4, 10, & 11 at 7:30 PM and May 5 & 12 at 2:30 PM. Tickets are $15 for adults, $13 for Seniors, and $11 for students. Tickets are available at the door and online at www.gallerytheatreahoskie.com.
Celebrating its 53rd season, the Gallery Theatre is located at 117 West Main Street, Ahoskie, NC 27910. The production of Our Town is sponsored by the NC Arts Council, a division of the Department of Cultural Resources, with additional sponsorship from The Golden Skillet.
